I now have a version of Instiki that doesn't use Madeleine for its storage. It's using Og instead, and it works really well. It's faster than the other version so far, by feel — don't take that as an objective measurement — and won't have the memory issues[1] that a large Instiki does with Madeleine.

If I get a chance, I'll clean up my modifications and make a patch against Instiki-latest.

How does one move from Madeline to Og?

Do you get rid of the (not really) huge sparse file when you switch? (I hope it is a sparse file!)

It's not sparse.

And one gets rid of it by just ripping it out and tossing its bloody carcass into the nearest ditch, and scattering foo.save around everywhere, and correcting for the different APIs. No magic, but it was easier than converting it any other way...

I mean, I have an Instiki running on Madeline, and I'd rather have an Instiki running on anything else (because it makes huge files). Can I convert from one to the other? It scares me so much that I have never looked inside instiki.

A converter is the next step. I'm working on that over the next couple days.
