Crustimony Proseed Cake

Inspired by Winnie The Pooh, by A. A. Milne

Make the vegan vanilla base cake recipe, and add toasted sesame seeds, toasted coconut, toasted poppyseeds, and whatever dried fruit you have handy. Bake as usual. Then turn out of the pan (upside-down), brush with honey or agave, and stick under the broiler briefly until a crisp crust develops.

Doesn't the use of honey violate the veganness of the original vegan Swiss roll?

Yes, yes it does. Hence the suggestion for agave. Myself, though, I'll take the honey.

That's brilliant. I always imagined it as sort of lemon-poppyseed little individual cakes, and now I want to make some!

I love it! It works so well, and it's juuust right, delicate and yet sturdy. It could be a picnic cake.
